Exploring the charming Venetian villas, homes of the old Venetian aristocracy

The Riviera del Brenta, a famous waterway between Padua and Venice, is a really cool area to explore, with lots of history, nature, art, and culture to check out. It's a natural extension of the Grand Canal, lined with charming Venetian villages and surrounded by a beautiful agricultural landscape. The Riviera del Brenta has always fascinated many important people: Casanova, Galileo Galilei, Byron, Montesquieu, and D'Annunzio visited it, Canaletto, Cimaroli, and Tiepolo painted it, and it was praised in the masterpieces of Goldoni and Goethe. The French and Russian royal families, the Habsburgs, the Savoy, and even Napoleon stayed here, and the Venetian nobility chose it as the backdrop for their Venetian villas. Here, the Venetians built some amazing homes, surrounded by huge gardens, with frescoes and designs by top artists like Palladio, Titian, and Tintoretto. The gardens of Villa Pisani are currently (September 2025) being renovated, so they can't be visited right now
