Description
This cooking class near Padua takes place in the home of Chef Catia, an artistic house in the countryside facing a 14th-century canal. The setting is green and welcoming, and the class follows the order of a Veneto meal.
It opens with an aperitivo veneto: cicchetti, the small bites of the region, with a glass of local wine. Expect toasted bread with seasonal vegetable spreads, vegetarian meatballs and white polenta with saor, the slow-cooked sweet-and-sour onions that are a Slow Food specialty.
- Bigoli al torchio, thick pasta pushed through a traditional press and served with a seasonal sauce
- A filled pasta such as ravioli or tortelloni, or fresh gnocchi if you prefer
- Tiramisu, made with pasteurized eggs
You learn to make two kinds of fresh pasta from scratch, then finish with the tiramisu from Catia's family recipe. The class lasts about four hours and you go home with the recipes. It is not suitable for children under 6 or for people with food allergies.
